It all began with a friendship and an idea.
Many eons ago in a land far far away...okay, it was Florida...we met while studying behavior analysis and all things dog. We became instant friends and after recognizing a need to support and promote the human animal bond among owners and their pets, decided to share our knowledge far and wide. Together we founded Digital Dog Academy, an online platform that brings content, training, and support to people in a professional and easily accessible manner through courses, challenges, and more. We are so excited to be here with you on this journey to help your dogs become the best versions of themselves.
Together with over 30 years of experience we have a unique perspective and skill set to offer.
Tara's journey began with a desire to help her own dogs with the behavior challenges they were experiencing. She completed the Pat Miller and Karen Pryor Professional Programs and became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She serves as a Faculty Advisor for the Victoria Stillwell Academy where she helps up-and-coming positive reinforcement-based trainers.
Gena's passion for health and wellness led her down the path of becoming a certified veterinary nurse and certified canine fitness trainer. This combination of experience gives her a unique perspective when it comes to looking at the whole dog and any struggles they may be having.
If you can’t already tell, we love learning! With that hunger for knowledge, we both obtained a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, became Fear Free certified professionals, certified separation anxiety trainers, and Absolute Dogs Pro Dog Trainers.
Not only do we apply this learning to help families with their beloved dogs, we also use the techniques and skills we have learned when working with our own dogs. Together Tara and her husband have 4 dogs: Tic Tac, a Jack Russell Terrier; Diesel, an Australian shepherd; Bandit, the toy fox terrier; and the super mutt, ABA-Lee. They are living the calm multi-dog household dream. Gena lives with her awesome husband and two amazing daughters, along with their two dogs Magnus, the field spaniel, and Kai, the water obsessed Gordon setter, as well as a cat named Ohana, and two guinea pigs, Star and Venus. As you have probably guessed, there's never a dull moment!
